Wow! What a year it has been for our world. Maybe the older I get, the more I see or I am aware of. Yet, I think we can all agree this last year has been difficult all around. It is hard to turn on the news everyday. All of this affects us on a personal level even if we are not directly involved. The whoas of the world result in increased inflation, lack of safety and security. It can make us want to isolate and just hide away. As a Life Coach, I can not recommend a particular faith. I know that for me, my Higher Power as I know Him is Jesus. I have personally relied on Him for my comfort and peace more than ever. But, I do recommend connecting to a power outside of ourselves even if it's the collective greater good of humanity. We can feel encouraged through the loving connections of others. God is love and He works through people. I remember during the horrible tragedy of 911 and the aftermath, I was a new mom with a baby terrified to bring up a child in this dark world. At the time, a therapist gave me some good advice. She reminded me that there are more good people in the world than bad. My assignment was to "catch people doing good things." And, as Mr. Rogers said in times like these, "look for the helpers!" The goodness of people can be found all around. The God given indomitable spirit of survival is deeply woven into our being and that is our super power. Yet, at times we may feel are strength and faith are wavering. I have also heard it said, that "faith is capitalizing on the belief of others." When we feel defeated and hopeless, look to others who have faith and as you see it working in them, let it spark your faith little by little. Reach out to others, people you can feel safe to be transparent about the challenges you are facing. Often times, just sharing what is going on relieves a huge burden. We find out we are not alone, it also takes the magnitude out of the earthquake in our head. Serve others, it gets us out of our own problems and into bringing joy and hope to others. As we do this, we also gain joy, hope and as well as purpose. I personally have experienced one of my most difficult years. Yet, I have a deep abiding hope in God, humanity, myself and the perseverance I have gained throughout my lived experiences. I have seen miracles in my own life and others. I consider myself a "hope dealer!"
I encourage you this season, whatever struggle or season you are in to connect to the greater good. Connect with others. My friends, do not give in or give up! I won't if you don't!
If however, your life is going along fabulously, I still encourage you to make connections and to grow your faith. It is like building our spiritual hope bank for the times when we need it most. Much, love, peace and blessings!
