Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, stepmoms, adopted moms, pet moms, and women who mother others. This day is a beautiful celebration of motherhood. It is also a difficult day for many. Some are mourning the loss of their moms while others may have a strained or no relationship at all. Others are separated for a number of reasons; loss of a child, distance, incarceration, addiction, abuse or emotionally just not safe to be around . Let's hold space for those that are grieving today. Reach out. Remind people that family isn't always determined by blood. Family is what you make it. Practice good self care. You can learn to parent yourself by treating yourself with kindness and changing the way you speak to yourself. Thank your body for all it has done for you. Rejoice in your accomplishments and victories! Be proud of yourself for how far you have come. You can also choose to be of service today. Go visit an elderly person or a neighbor who is alone today. Help an animal. Take care of mother earth. Pick up the phone just to say, "Hey, I am thinking about you and I love you." Flip the script on what might be a hard day and make it meaningful for you. You are loved, treasured and valued. Peace and grace.
