JUST BECAUSE IT'S WEDNESDAY...

When is the last time you showed up with a homemade treat or meal for your person "Just Because It's Wednesday" ? Or offered to help them with a task? When is the last time someone blessed you out of the blue?

My "Just Because It's Wednesday" blog series was inspired by a conversation with a dear friend about my disappointment in the dating scene. My first blog in this series was on the heels of being forgotten on my birthday by the man I was dating at the time. Can you imagine? If you know me personally, I love all reasons to celebrate! The real catalyst for me writing this blog was the shock I felt with the lack of effort I was seeing not just for me, but other single people I know. To be fair, being married for 23 years and widowed now for 6 years, I can see how much the dating world has dramatically changed. I have dated ages 25 to 55 and the changes I see are not age related, they are sign of the times. I believe our fast paced world of social media and smart phones are largely to blame. These tools of communication have caused a false sense of relationship. It is too easy to think sending a text is a substitute for a real conversation. It has allowed laziness and lack of intention. Do not get me wrong, technology is awesome! I use it all the time. It has tremendous benefits and reach. But, life is about balance right? It is not all or nothing! What I am suggesting though, is some old school...pick up the phone, call someone and say, "Hey I just called to say I love you and appreciate you!"

Texting, swipe right, swipe left are a part of our cultural norm, I get it. Ghosting, gaslighting, no contact, blocking them on socials....why do we have to have these phrases and ideas? What if just because and just for today we decide that love can be the gift of honesty? What if we decided to be better in relationships? More transparent, more accountable? What if we were to have the courage to be a little more selfless? "Just Because It's Wednesday" is about love; self love and wholeness to be able to give wholeheartedly to the people in our lives with no expectation of a return.

I may be introducing some new ideas to people who do not know it any other way. Or perhaps this is a reminder. Your love and time are your most valuable resources. What if you were to give a little bit of it to someone today, “Just Because It’s Wednesday!”

We have lost something, but let's bring it back and start BLESSING PEOPLE OUTRAGEOUSLY! Are you in?
